Glass Fusing is sometimes referred to as fused glass, warm glass, or kiln work, this craft involves molding and manipulating glass inside a kiln.
Do you want to learn the techniques of glass fusing? What is fused glass? What is glass slumping? What items are necessary? What do some of these terms mean?
Lampworking uses a gas fuelled torch to melt rods and tubes of clear and coloured glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by shaping with tools and hand movements, usually making glass beads. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps.
My studio is fully equipped for both lampworking and creating fused pieces.
I use a dual-fuel Bobcat to teach lampworking and have a Skutt kiln for fusing and batch annealing beads to ease stresses and aid durability.
I run classes in both fusing and lampworking and, as far as possible, I like to tailor a course to an individual’s needs. Please contact me to discuss further and arrange a mutually convenient date and time.
Classes are usually taught on a one-to-one basis although I could take up to a maximum of 3*, and would be suitable for complete beginners or someone with some basic knowledge of glass working.
